National Handloom Day Celebration 2023

We are delighted to share the wonderful success of our National Handloom Day Exhibition, organized by our respected Dean & Director, Dr. Monika Aggarwal of Leonardo da Vinci School of Design, a highly experienced with a profound passion for India’s rich heritage. The event was a celebration that embraced the rich heritage and unparalleled artistry of handloom textiles. This event, held on August 7th, 2023 in the Exhibition Area at Leonardo da Vinci School of Design was inaugurated by our Honorable Chancellor, Shree Ankush Rao Kadam was testament to the dedication of our artisans and the enduring allure of handwoven fabrics.

Handloom Heritage Exhibition:

The highlight of the event was the work displayed by Students of Fashion Design, Textile Design and Interior Design as part of their curriculum assignment which included the exhibition of the stunning array of handloom textiles across the country, each piece a reflection of India’s diverse culture and craftsmanship. Visitors had the opportunity to admire the creation of dedicated skilled weavers.

Contests & Competitions:

Poster Making Contest and Article Writing Contest was floated amongst the students which was open for all, irrespective of any department where students used their creative talents to celebrate the spirit of handloom textiles. Certificates were awarded for the most captivating and meaningful posters and articles.

Community Support:

We are grateful for the overwhelming support from MGM Khadi who presented a special Khadi Exhibition and joined hands to make this event a resounding success. Khadi, often referred to as the fabric of freedom, represents not only a fabric choice but a symbol of self-reliance, sustainability and cultural richness.
